CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY
The Lafayette Police Department's Citizen's Academy is an educational outreach program designed to provide citizens a greater understanding of the inner-workings of their police department and of the role law enforcement plays within the criminal justice system.
The Lafayette Police D.A.R.E program is offered to all 5th graders. Lessons also include bullying, how to deal with stress, confident communication and responsibility. The purpose of having an officer instruct the class is to build relationships with the students and encouraging them to be good citizens.
Our internship provides college students opportunities to grow their knowledge and experience in the field of law enforcement. The internship is a total of 120 hours scheduled across 15 weeks of instruction.
A.L.I.C.E. (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) Training instructor-led classes provide preparation and a plan for individuals and organizations on how to more proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event.
JUNIOR POLICE ACADEMY
The Lafayette Police Department's Junior Police Academy is a three day program over the summer. Youth ages 12 - 14 are given a hands-on and inside look on what it takes to become a police officer.
