Code Enforcement

Building Officials and Code Administrators (BOCA) walk Lafayette neighborhoods each week to assess local city codes and housing standards. Keeping our neighborhoods well-maintained and vibrant is a huge piece of our community safety and crime prevention initiatives. Inspectors evaluate a variety of code violations from exterior deterioration of roofs and chimneys, to hazardous electrical and animal infestations. Inspectors meet with property owners to develop improvement plans and help direct them through the process of property enhancement.

The Ordinance Violations Bureau employs officers to monitor neighborhoods and to work with the citizens to maintain a clean and welcoming city for all of us. A strong focus on code enforcement improves property value, gives a renewed sense of pride, and builds a robust quality of life for our community. It takes a team of dedicated staff and residents working together to keep our neighborhoods safe and resilient.
