Serious Violent Felon Arrested After a Traffic Stop

On January 10th, 2018 officers with the Lafayette Street Crimes Unit made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation.  During the traffic stop it was revealed that the driver, Timothy Farris (36) did not have insurance for the vehicle.  Officers located a handgun and various illegal narcotics in the vehicle during the stop. As a result of previous violent felony convictions Farris is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

As a result of the stop Farris was arrested for the following charges:

-Possession of a handgun by a serious violent felon

-Carrying a handgun without a license

-Possession of methamphetamine

-Possession of paraphernalia

-Possession of marijuana

-Resisting Law Enforcement

Farris was also cited for operating a vehicle without insurance and was issued a warning for failure to signal.  Farris was transported to the Tippecanoe County Jail.
