[ARCHIVED] Domestic Violence Victim Advocate

Lafayette Police Department Domestic Violence Advocate Now Working Directly with Patrol

The Lafayette Police Department and the YWCA have successfully partnered for several years with issues involving domestic violence and now will add an additional component of having victim advocate, Norah Ashcraft, ride with a police officer on Thursday evening patrol shifts. Norah Ashcraft is a 20-year-veteran in the field of domestic violence and has been an invaluable resource in the Lafayette community during her time working at the YWCA and at the Lafayette Police Department.

During the ride-a-long shifts Victim Advocate Norah Ashcraft will respond with the patrol officers to calls involving domestic violence or domestic disturbances. The advantage of an immediate response with Victim Advocate Ashcraft will afford the opportunity to intervene and provide outreach to domestic violence survivors more quickly and effectively.

The Lafayette Police are proud to support Victim Advocate Ashcraft and her efforts to provide resources to the Lafayette Police Department and the Lafayette community.
