[ARCHIVED] Robbery, Confinement & Arrest

On February 8th at 3:12pm, the Lafayette Police Department received a call indicating an older male had been bound and robbed in the 900-block of Brick N Wood Dr. The victim, Kenneth Nice (86 years old and of Lafayette), reported that the suspect had stolen his car and other property. The victim had also received significant facial injuries that required medical attention. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

At 4:23pm, LPD patrol officers located the stolen vehicle near 6th St and Wall St, north of downtown. They also located the suspect, Jacob Thomas McDaniel (20 years old and of Dayton, IN), near the vehicle. The suspect was detained and later arrested for Robbery, Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, Theft, Auto Theft, Confinement, and Possession of Marijuana.

This incident was not a random act, and the victim and suspect knew each other. The investigation is ongoing. Anybody with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Lafayette Police Department (807-1200) or the We-Tip Hotline (800-78-CRIME).
