06_10 Back on Track UPDATE (2)

UPDATE AS OF 3:30pm 7/01/20: We have received a new update from the Governor’s office. At this time, we will NOT be moving to Stage 5 of the Back on Track Indiana Plan. Instead, we will be moving into Stage 4.5, in which all of our aquatic facilities (Tropicanoe Cove, Castaway Bay, & Vinton Pool) as well as the Columbian Park Zoo will continue to operate at 50% capacity. The soonest this may change would be July 18, 2020. We will continue to provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience.

In light of Governor Holcomb’s announcement this afternoon, we will move forward to stage 4 of the Back on Track Indiana Plan this Friday. We will begin reopening Lafayette Park Playgrounds as well as Tropicanoe Cove and the Columbian Park Zoo (at half capacity) on Friday, June 12.

Per recommendation from the Governor’s office, we strongly suggest that parents bring sanitizer and encourage children and other individuals using the communal equipment to wear masks. Additionally, please use alcohol-based sanitizer on hands prior to, and after, eating. Overall, please try to avoid eating on the playgrounds in general. Finally, it is recommended by Indiana State Health Commissioner, Dr. Kristina M. Box, that individuals should wash thoroughly and change clothes when arriving home.

As we work through the stages of Governor Holcomb’s Back on Track Indiana Plan, we ask that you continue to follow the CDC guidelines and practice social distancing. We also ask that you understand that the Back on Track Indiana Plan is subject to change based on CDC guidance and other new information. The health and safety of our community continues to be our top priority and we appreciate your patience during these unprecedented times.

The city of Lafayette will continue to monitor the rapidly changing COVID-19 pandemic and provide updates as available. Updates and resources are being posted regularly on the City’s social media channels and at
