Large Items

Pickup

Large items such as carpet, sinks, sofas, toilets, and mattresses, will be taken during weekly trash pickup. Items should be set out beside your toter, on your normal collection day.

Please note that large items will be picked up by a separate truck than the one that picks up your normal trash, so it will not be picked up at the same time; however, it will be on the same day, shortly after.

Large item pick up is limited to approximately two small pickup truck loads of items once per year per residence. Please note that any additional garbage bags or items outside of the trash toter is considered part of large item pick up.

In addition, construction and renovation materials are subject to the same limits of two small pickup truck loads of items per year. Any excess large items or materials will not be picked and must be removed by the resident.  If a contractor is doing the renovations, they are responsible for the removal of all the old materials, appliances, and packaging of new items. 

Please Note

The City cannot pick up anything with refrigerant such as window air conditioning units, refrigerators, and chest freezers. 

Drop Off

If you can't wait until your weekly pickup, items can be brought to the Tippecanoe Trash Transfer Station for $22.50 per load at:

Lafayette, IN 47901

Their hours are Monday - Friday 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. - Noon. Please call the Transfer Station at 765-742-7131 for more details.
