The purpose of the Adopt-A-Spot Program is to help beautify Lafayette through the adoption and sponsorship of public areas by individuals, businesses, or organizations throughout the city. The sponsor is recognized with an attractive sign bearing the Adopt-A-Spot logo and the name of the sponsoring organization. This provides a way for businesses and organizations to promote themselves within the community. Well-maintained sites also demonstrate pride to the community.
Each sponsoring organization/individual is asked to sign a Memorandum of Understanding and Liability waiver. The Memorandum of Understanding includes submitting a one-time $100 contribution to add the name of the sponsor to the Adopt-A-Spot sign, as well as performing weekly maintenance of the site during the growing season and bi-weekly trash pickup throughout the year.
By signing the Waiver of Liability, the Sponsor agrees to comply with the regulations of the program, acknowledges potential hazards of the activity, and releases the City of Lafayette and Adopt-A-Spot Program from any claims by the sponsor while participating in the Program.
